Ahh, swim, swim!

Finally broke in the new pool today.   We had planning and prepping to do for the adventure and it all went swimmingly, ha ha, I'm so funny.

Decided to bring Casey out in the shower chair.  This way it would be easier to get him out the back and easier to lift him in and out of the pool AND, then he could roll right into the shower afterwards.  This saved us a couple of lifting and transfers.  Colin went out in his chair (which lays down pretty flat).

Nurse Nancy H was here and Julia, too.  AC came to watch also.  Between all of us we worked like a well oiled machine.  Bathing suits on, sunscreen, hats, pool prepped and umbrella up, vents, suctions put in place, towels, chux readied.

I went in first.  Gene lifted Colin in.  He was a little freaked as it was pretty cold.  We fooled around and did some exercises and played with a ball.  Gene didn't want to have both boys in at the same time today but we will do it next time.  We always need a couple of people in the pool and a couple of 'dry' people when we have a pool day.  We have to hold the boys by their heads/necks and it does get tiring after a while so it's good to have someone fresh to switch out with.  We can set Colin up with a neck float and he can float on his own but someone has to be RIGHT there with him and watch him like a hawk.  Our big float that Casey could go on had some issues over the winter and we need a new one.

Funny thing.  Last year Casey refused to go in the pool.  He hated that it wasn't warm like the indoor pool at camp.  We didn't make him go in at all.  This year I was determined to get him in.  We downplayed it and just made it seem like it was no biggie.  He started to have a mini meltdown right before he was going in but once he got it in he loved it!  He liked the whole experience better than Colin!  He laughed and giggled and even though he had goosebumps on his chest, he didn't complain about the temperature.  It really was cold but felt good when once you were in and used to it.

Colin chatted with Aunt Chris while Casey, Gene, Julia and I frolicked.  Afterwards we got them out and Casey headed into the shower and I got Colin freshened up and dressed.  Successful afternoon!

Nancy H was in charge of photos.  She's not a very experience photo taker nor is she very familiar with my camera.  We forgot to bring it out when Colin was in the pool so there are no pics of him.  This is what she got of Casey's pool time.
